Smile A piece for Rocky

It's truly amazing how much love and happiness a Boxer can bring into one's life

I knew what I needed
But my Wife shut me down
I cried, begged and pleaded
Could she ignore such a frown?

After months of being alone
I finally found my baby
I rushed for the phone
My Wife replied with, “Maybe”

He was all I could think about
After each and every yawn
All I could do was do pout
Knowing he could be gone

He’s brindle, handsome and dark
With a black mask so fine
I could hear his faint bark
I knew this one was mine

I didn’t expect such joy
Coming home from a long day
There sat my baby boy
Wanting nothing but to play

His puppy kisses so sweet
And his coat so soft and pure
My heart skipped a beat
It was a dream, I thought for sure

Only 9 weeks old, solid as can be
So loving, yet so tough
In our loving home, so free
Where he can’t be loved enough

Our baby boy will grow so fast
Into a dog so sincere and stocky
All my wishes came true at last
He’s mine, we named him Rocky

Rocky's now part of the family
In which he fits in so well
This is the story of my baby
That I couldn't resist to tell

Whoops I guess I didn't include how the dog randomly appeared at my house. Actually what happened was after acting like a little child about the whole boxer thing and after showing my Wife which boxer I like online she went out and bought it while I was at work

It took MONTHS of convincing though - But well worth every minute

Thank you all for your replies

People local to my community thought I was crazy for writing that! They would certainly understand if they had the brains to bring a boxer of their own into their family

The crazy part is, I already want another one. 1) Because I love them 2) Rocky needs a friend

So I figure the 2nd one will take me at least a year of begging, whining and crying

I'm also considering leaving him intact for breeding purposes

Please consider a few things before deciding to breed him: 1.) If you use him as a stud only, I'm pretty sure you will not have any say in who buys the puppies unless the female is also yours, 2.) you will want to keep his puppies, 3.) you will worry and possibly regret not having him neutered and wonder if testicular or prostate cancer will strike him down. When I first got Harley, I thought the same thing. He was so beautiful and I felt like I might also want to breed him. So, one day one of the techs that worked for my vet wanted to breed her female with him. We put them together twice and it didn't take. I felt like a pimp And then, I was glad that it didn't take because I didn't know how I would have handled not being able to pick the families that his babies went to. I also would have ended up with another puppy I'm sure, which would have been fine, but I didn't really want two at that time. Come to find out, that girl ended up giving her boxer away because she got a new puppy, a great dane, and couldn't keep them both My point is, don't do it just because you think it would be fun, it's more emotionally complicated than you realize at first, at least it was for me. I got many requests for Harley to breed over the years, and always said no after that experience.
