Nikon D90?

Okay, I want a really good camera. I adore action shots, and want a point and shoot that is top notch. What do you all think about the Nikon D90? Pros? Cons? Things to look out for? Or what are some cameras that are almost or just as good? I'm looking for a shutter speed of at least 1/2000th+/

The D90 isn't a point-and-shoot It is an SLR, and to get the best out of that, you need to be ready to invest in lenses that will do the jobs you want (e.g. fast lens for action photos...). It is a tool, after all. Best to get the right tool for the job that you want done It doesn't matter how good a camera is if it doesn't do that.

If its point and shoot you're after, perhaps a bridge camera would be a better choice.

if you're looking for a D-SLR, than a cheaper alternative to the D90 might be the D5000 if money is an issue. of course you will want to go to a store and look at all the features. D-SLR's or Z-SLR's (bridge) are not a point and shoot as you're looking for. they're both larger then a point and shoot, and i don't know if there is a point and shoot that will give you that shutter speed. closest thing will be a Z-SLR which has a fixed lens.
