SLR Digital Camera

I am looking for a new camera mine was washed away by Ike. I want an SLR in my budget ($5-700) any suggestions?

There are a lot of great cameras in your price range. Nikon, Canon, and Sony all have models in that range. If you go to some of the big box store sites you can select a few and compare them side by side to see which one may suit you more. I just bought a new Nikon--I already have Nikon lenses so it is my brand of choice. I would also suggest going to look at them and see if you are more comfortable with the feel of one over the other. The other day I was in a store and they had a model on display, so of course I went to play with it. The buttons seemed to be akward. I did notice too that they package a lot of the cameras with a nice range zoom lens. 18-55mm or 18-105mm. Nice lenses to start you out and make your new camera a lot of fun. Good luck with your search.

I am looking at Canon XSI, which is a little more affordable than the Nikon D90 I was looking at. Both are highly rated by Consumer Reports.

Hey, I wouldn't normally do this but this past spring my wife bought from these people. She has been very happy with the product they sold her and she spent hours searching for the best deal...this was it. Since then, she's taken our son's Senior pictures not to mention a couple of kids who would not have otherwise been able to afford them. She is a photo fanatic. She's really used this cameral and to date has not had any issues with it. One thing to note is that they sell new and refurbs. She bought new.

Thanks so much for that info. I am always suspicious about buying such a large ticket item off of ebay. I always question whether it's refurbished, etc. I love taking action shots of my boxer and nephews and my point and shot is just not cutting if.

I think she actually called them and got the package she wanted. They sent it to her through ebay and she payed with PayPal which was an extra layer of security.

That EOS is a cool camera, if you want to do a lot of action I would try to package it with a little bit faster of a lens. The lens in that deal would limit you to very bright sunny days, IMO, for sharp action shots.
