I did mention that to dh for some reason he is set on getting her a baby puppy I told him that rescues sometimes have young babies. We'll see if I can persuade him or not.

Please, I hope I dont offend. I dont know how old she is, but my worry would be that the puppy might hurt her or something (accidentally). They are strong. Or if he/she gets away from her.

My husbands grandparents are in their 70's, and I dont think a boxer would be for them. Not a young one anyway. my own grandmother is in her late 60's, so a bit younger. But I dont think she could handle a boxer either. She could as a puppy, but once they hit age...10 months. That would be the end of it.

But an older one like 6 or so would be great. Rescue's sometimes need extra work and attention but they also take special care to match the right dog with the right person. you can already see the dogs general attitude/disposition because it would be a little older, whereas with a puppy, you never know what it will grow into! Harley was a devil, but he's alright now

On the other hand, if she was to do training with the puppy it could grow into a very good dog and it would keep her busy

Just some things to consider if you havent already

Oh no offense taken at all. I talked to dh last night about a rescue and he told me that she knows we are looking for one (I thought it was a surprise guess not) She has raised many boxer through the years so she knows what she is getting into and he did ask her about age etc.. and she said she would prefer a puppy. She is a very healthy active 71 year old. Dh told her that we would definately find her a baby for everything that she has done for us that is the least we can do.

Just for information sake, when talking about the CKC (Canadian KC), you can have dogs registered both AKC and CKC. If you import from either country you will have both.
