AKC -- do they record diseases?

Both my Millie and Ozzy CAN be registered with the AKC. We never thought it would really be necessary as we dont plan to breed or show either. But with Millie's recent diagnosis (Juvenile Renal Disease) I was wondering if it makes sense to register her in order to record and document the disease. I don’t even know if AKC tracks information like this (they certainly should if they don’t).

I was also wondering if after registration I would be able to get a full copy of her pedigree. We are having her participate in a research study on the disease to find a genetic link and they would like this information if it is available. I know I had a copy from our breeder, but who knows where I put it.

Also, what would the other benefits of registering them be? I just don’t know much about it.
