Unhappy ckc and akc question

Ok I live here in the land of akc and am wanting to get a can ch for my girlie and as i understand it I just need to register her also with the ckc and I went to there website but it looks like they want me to send a akc copy of her pedigree and her org. registration. does that sound right? 1.) I would have to order an akc pedigree because I have her pedigree already ( not an official akc one ) also I dont want to send out an org. of her registration could I not send a copy has anyone done this before and know? Thanks for the advise in advance.

You can send notarized copies of both the registration and AKC pedigree (but it does have to be an official AKC pedigree with the gold foil seal).

However, in order to obtain CKC registration, a dog must be either microchipped with a CKC-approved chip (which are *not* the ones used in the US), or be tattooed with a CKC-approved tattoo series (which must include the CKC-registered tattoo series of the owner of the dog at birth) - which means CKC registration is highly impractical for most AKC dogs.

Instead, get an ERN (Event Registration Number). The only real difference is that any Canadian titles your dog may win won't be printed on the official CKC pedigree of any progeny. It's $11 more (Canadian) for the ERN, but it's $15 (US) for the AKC pedigree so that's basically a wash anyway.

Ok that sounds more like what I was told about anyway. So? How do I go about getting that through the web site?

For the ERN form, go here: http://www.ckc.ca/en/Default.aspx?tabid=90

Item #5 under "Shows & Trials" is the ERN application number. Fill it out, and mail it with a check.

As a side note, you only have to submit this form within 30 days of winning points. In other words, you can enter a show, and file the application afterwards.
