Question Strange Puppy Color

Ok, when I was little my mom bred boxers & my sister & I had our own boxer's. Never, never in my life have I ever heard tell of ANYBODY trying to pass a black dog off as being a boxer! Well, I might have found one. I have chatted with a few of you wonderful people about that I am looking for a "boxer baby". When I was younger I had Fred & he was our stud & someone broke into our running car & stole Fred. I still haven't decided if they were stupid or idiots or both. I was about 10 yrs old then.
Anyway my question is & I may be totally off base, let me know if I am. Have you guys ever heard or seen a "seal brindle"? The picture I saw the baby looked black. So I wrote & asked if he was CKC reg because AKC only does purebreds, right? This is more for my "piece of mind" because the baby I am desperately wanting is a light fawn color. Haven't found him/her yet still looking! Thanks guys!

"Seal" brindle is a term used in some parts of Canada to describe the same colour that Americans call "reverse" brindle, and the remaining parts of the world just call dark brindle. In short, a brindle dog with a very heavy concentration of dark stripes. In photographs and as a young puppy, it may indeed appear to be black - though close up viewing would reveal the stripes. A dog that is truely black, however, cannot possibly be a purebred boxer.

However, it is also worth noting that both seal and reverse brindle are terms now seized upon by backyard breeders, puppy mills and other irresponsibles who've finally caught on that enough people know there is no such thing as a purebred black boxer - so they're calling their black mixed breed pups "seal" or "reverse" brindle instead.

Per the site rules, which do not permit threads discussing "black" boxers, this thread is now closed.
Quote:
"Black boxer" threads are not allowed: there are no black boxers because it is a genetic impossibility to have a pure bred black boxer. If you "see" one it is likely a cross breed or a "reverse brindle". We have enough of back yard breeders advertising them.
