Boxers in Police work

I know Boxers were used in WW1 and 2, and used in Germany for police work. Does anyone know of any being used currently in the US, or any Police Departments that are using them?

I came across a breeder whose boxers have working titles and many of the puppies in his litters are sold to police officers for use in K-9 programs. He does not sell his white boxers because they are trained for participation in local police K-9 units (as long as they've passed all health, temperament and hearing screenings). This breeder supports local K-9 units by off-setting the cost of obtaining a high quality dog for their programs by providing them the white boxers free of charge.

I read an article a few months back about 2 boxers that we being used by the police in the US - but now, I can't remember where it was. I will have to see if I can find the article. The 2 boxers had actually been imported from Germany. They were saying that a well-trained boxer was better than any other dog out there - but it did take longer to train one.

If I find the article I will let you know.

I had found something on the internet one time almost a year ago about a few departments that had them in the K9 program, but I have not been able to find it since.

I know of a few breeders that breed working boxers, but I haven't come across any boxers currently in service as Police K9s here in the states.

Anyone have a link or anything? I was under the impression Boxers weren't used anymore because of availability and it's easier to train GSD's and Mals?

Dolly vd Almeauen, BH, AD, ZTP, Police K-9 certified in Narcotic Detection, Tracking & Evidence Searches (try searching this and you should find pictures of a K-9 trained boxer in action.

Hi! I work for a police dept and our K9 officer will be training my pup. He works with the foundation that trains all the police dogs in this state. I will ask if he knows of any state/city that uses boxers for police dogs! I wish we had one! Will let you know!

Flashyfan, I did a search with the names you gave me, and had no luck finding anything. I am talking with some guys that train K9s, and some other guys I work with. Hope we can find something.
