Does Your Boxer swim?

My Boxer Cash loves the water and loves to swim. I have heard that most of them dont like to swim and are not good swimmers. I have seen boxers with life jackets as well. We cant keep cash out of the water and he doesnt wear a life jacket.

It really depends on the dog. I put a life vest on all my dogs at first till they get the hang of swimming because I dont want to scare them if they jump in besides my dogs ( we have a pool ) I would say 75% of the boxers I foster really like the water. It just depends on the dog.

We have taken Stella in the pool a few times, just to get her to learn where the shallow end is so she can get out if she were to fall in, she loves staring at the pool, but I am not sure yet if she loves the water, she loves a warm bath though!!! ahhahahha

Lisa loves to swim and also she dives under the water looking for anything that she can get a hold off.

Bubbie doesn't swim!

Bubbie is a big fan of the water hose, but that's as far as it goes. No swimming for him!

Koda didn't like the water at first. Then one day we were at a lake and she saw how much fun our friends' lab was having retrieving a toy. She couldn't resist any longer and went in for a swim. She is the most awkward swimmer I have ever seen. She's vertical, like her butt weighs her down. You can see her front paws flail around like she's swimming for her life. She loves the water now.

Dempsey LOVES LOVES LOVES the water. But the poor baby sinks! After a few instances of jumping in and going straight down, he is cautious to be sure that the water is shallow enough ffor him to stand. He always looks forward to the water, but can only wade in it and never goes deeper than his chest any more.

We started out with a life jacket for Bayleigh in the pool. This last summer, she really seemed to ejoy swimming on a hot day...as long as she had the life jacket on. We took the life jacket off and she panicked and instantly started sinking. So it's life jacket from now on!

Wink like it, but rubbish!

OUr Misty (see the other post about water \& swimming) liked going in the water, and our current two have had a go. Full of enthusiasm but about as much flotation ability as a brick! Something to do with their centre of gravity or their general shape? I don't think they're really designed for swimming!

On the other hand, I was having a bath the other day and they spent all their time trying to lick bits of me they coudl reach, especially when I washed with some cocoa butter body wash!
