Mittens was beautiful! Know that she is in a better place, no longer confused. It is sad to lose a loved one but now she is in a safer place where you don't have to worry about her falling and hurting herself. She had a good life with you.

Be free Mittens, go play

I'm so sorry to hear this story. I know you did the right thing and she can rest in peace now. I know I will be facing this decision soon with my 18 y/o Jules and I would just rather not have to. She lives in her own bedroom so the other cats don't bother her but she loves Pearl and always puts her head in her face so she can get her Boxer licks.

Mittens was a beautiful baby, Godspeed sweet

The Big Question

Last night I asked myself, "Why do we do it?" Or, to quote C. S. Lewis, "Why love if losing hurts so much?" Of course, therein lies the rub - losing them wouldn't hurt so much if we didn't love them so much. I visit the Rainbow Bridge from time to time and really feel for the people who lose their beloved companions, especially the young ones who go to soon. A recently-made friend of mine who is also a BW member just tragically lost her girl who was less than two years old. And all of you who posted here have had your losses, too, or are facing the possibility.

But, of course, I knew the answer even before I asked . . . and this morning, as every morning, when I show the first signs of waking up, Emma's little stub of a tail starts wagging furiously. As soon as I tell her good morning, the kidney-beaning and face washes begin - it's really done wonders for my skin. Ha. It's a pretty sweet way to wake up every morning.

Pearlywhirly, I wish you the best with Jules - that is so adorable that Pearl and she get along so well! I bet it is the most precious thing to watch.

Thanks. I was surprised at Jules' initial reaction because she had never been around a dog before but she walked straight up to her and thrust her face right into Pearl's and enjoyed her lick session so much. She gets completely sopped but comes back for more. Pearl is so gentle it's like she knows Jules is fragile.

Wink Dog Breath?

Do people ever wonder about Jules' terrible breath?
