Boxers have Ruined my mom

Not sure if this is where this thread goes or not, so moderators please feel free to move if it is in the wrong place.

This is just to get something I had to get off my chest.

I posted a little while ago about my mom's King Shepard, Dallas, that went to the bridge. So Mom and my brother have been saying that Roxy needs a playmate. Someone gave them an 11 wk old beagle the day before yesterday. She is a beauty, and she may be tiny but she plays with Roxy like a boxer. Roxy gets along with her very well, and barks like heck if anyone wants to pet the pup (because its her puppy).

Mom called me last night and asked if I knew anyone that wants the pupp. She is not giving her a chance. She says that it is too much having Roxy and the pup, but at the same time she said that if the pup was a boxer, she would have no problem with it at all. I think that having Roxy has now made her prejudice against any other breeds. She loved Dallas, don't get me wrong, Dally was almost 13 when she passed and she was mom's baby, but I think that boxers have now spoiled mom and she only wants them.

I feel so sorry for this beagle pup (they were calling her Missy), she is only 11 wks old and had 3 homes already. I told mom that I would take her for a while to train her, but I have Sugar, Cain and 4 cats and my daughter lives in the basement with her dog, Cadence, and 3 cats. I think my husband would kill me if I took Missy in (however, she is only a beagle and they don't get that big). Maybe I could hide her somewhere. lol

I won't comment on the beagle issue but I say your mom is one smart woman! I, too, am partial to Boxers as most of us here are and while I love dogs, I will always have a soft spot for Boxers. I wonder if anyone who has shared a home with a Boxer has ever said that they would never get another one. I doubt it! Good luck with the beagle pup

It's really a shame that your mom isn't giving the puppy a chance. She's really only doing what puppies are supposed to do which is play, play, play! Not to mention that its only been a couple of days. Poor baby, 3 homes already?! We all love boxers here but I consider myself an equal opportunity home and would never turn a dog away just because of their breed.

Just thought I would update the beagle situation. Missy is staying put.
Mom said she was worried that Missy would be too much for Roxy to handle (like a beagle pup is too much for a boxer to handle...puhleese). Anyway, turns out that Roxy LOVES the puppy. The beagle sleeps on Roxy's back with her nose under Roxy's ear, or snuggled up to Roxy's belly and Rox puts her paw around the baby...sooooo cute. At night, both dogs sleep on my parents bed (btw, my parents are in their 60's and Roxy is the first dog to ever be let in the bedroom, let alone sleep on the bed. See what Boxers do?) Roxy sleeps at the bottom of the bed and Missy sleeps between Mom and Dad with her head on Dad's shoulder. I think she will be Dad's and Roxy's dog.

I'm so glad Missy will be staying. I too love boxers and will most likely own one till the end of my days. But that sweet baby needs a home and I am glad she loves her new daddy and he loves her.
PS would so love to see pics of the beagle on the boxer's back sleeping. I bet that is cute
