We have a new kitty!!

Sunday, Mackensie was whining at the window and I went out to find a little kitty who resembled a bag of bones with fur on it! I went in and grabbed a chicken neck for her, which she chewed for 2 minutes and then swallowed whole! Got her another which I held onto, and she ate it in 10 minutes followed by about 4 ounces of boneless chicken. I think she would have eaten pounds!! Anyway, we had discussed adopting a cat before, but always decided against it, even though we all love cats. We didn't want to deal with the litter box vs. dogs issue, and Mackensie has quite a high prey-drive so we worried about the safety of a kitty in our house with the two Boxers. When DH called from work to say hi, I let him know about the kitty and he said, "Good thing I have 3 hours to cool off till I come home!" I told the kids from the minute we found her we probably wouldn't be keeping her... Well, DH came home from work and from the second he saw her, was calling her "daddy's little baby kitty". Tough guy Needless to say, we're keeping her! I think she's around 3-4 months old. Her name is CoCo...

What a beautiful little kitty. I bet when she has been well fed and gets back up to snuff, she will be absolutely gorgeous. Yes your DH sounds like a pretty heartless tough guy to me!!

Awww, CoCo is a little cutie! She must have lived with dogs before, to let them get so close after only a few days. I'm still waiting for that, after having the dog for 4 months. Congratulations!

Actually, the photos of them altogether were taken only about 30 minutes after bringing her inside! Mackensie will down stay for as long as I tell her, but Angus surprised me by laying down and being "gentle".
They are both good with her when she's still, but if she runs they chase! Hopefully that will stop soon. Right now, I don't dare to leave them all out together when I can't supervise, so CoCo stays in my bathroom then.

Oh, she's a cute little tortie cat! Congratulations and thanks for rescueing this pretty girl.

Our Petey would only chase cats if they initiated the chase. Seems unfair to punish a dog when the cat started it.

Pete was actually best of friends with Stormy(now at the Bridge) and Laddie. It was Laddie that cleaned Petey's face when he was so ill before he went to the Bridge. He searched the house for a few days after Petey left us. Dogs and cats can be good friends, or at least learn to live in harnony.

Awww, I LOVE tortie kitties. Your new baby is so cute! I am sure she will put on some weight fast now that she has a great forever home. That is so great you could take her in! I love stories like that! I rescue cats when I can, and it just warms my heart to hear that one more kitty has a good home.
