Smile

nsalamerica.org is the organization I belong to that sole purpose is to save animals in extreme horrific conditions and puppy mills. They may be able to help or direct you to the main person or persons that can get past the red tape in an expeditious manner.

Living here in Lancaster County, the heart of puppy mills, it's so horrible feeling helpless when you see something you know is just immoral or inhumane. I drive past these mills every day. And every week there is a different breed of puppy available. One has 7 or 8 listed constantly. It's just disgusting! Now they are reverting to "de-barking" the breeding dogs so us "uneducated" shoppers don't hear them while we shop as not to give away that puppy mill atmosphere.

Good luck and many thanks for having your eyes wide open as well as your heart!

Oh, and there is also MLAR.ORG who deals strictly with puppy mills and was in colaboration with the Oprah show on puppy mills. They may be able to help considerably.

You know, I lived in York,PA for a few years and was in Lancaster frequently...I never realized it was that bad over there until I was looking for my boxer and this one place, I think it was Lancaster Puppies or something? But yeah, I was taken aback by all the various breeds they had and instantly went elsewhere.

Betsy: I applaud you in your effort to stop this crazy woman. I wish you all the best and keep us posted. If you ever need letters written or e-mails sent or whatever to get this woman off the street, I'd be happy to lend my fingers to flood some mailboxes!!

Good luck!!

PA Rocks!!!

YEAH!!!! Puppy Mills in PA will be few and far between now that the Puppy Mill Bill HB2525 was passed! Hopefully all the states will follow the lead!

So many changes are law required now which will close a lot of mills that operate strickly for profit. It also gives us more leverage in getting the mills investigated.

One shocker is that only one Senator voted against the bill. I wish I knew which one so I can send a letter of disgust!

Just wondering how it was going. Hopefully you were able to get ahold of someone to help.
I know when we were looking for a puppy, Lancaster was crazy with dogs. I live in Indiana PA so not too far from you. We actually ended up getting Tyson in Altoona. About and hour and a half drive. I know they were a BYB, but they had all the proof for vet checkups, shots, etc. They had no problem answering any questions we threw at them. They were very open and honest. I am also glad they passed the puppy mill law. About time. That one senator that didn't sign should have to live like these poor babies for a month to see what he thinks of the living conditions let alone the health conditions.

I would suggest you contact the local animal control officer and State Dept. of Agriculture. However, I once contacted the CT. State Dept. of Agriculture to complain about my former boxer's (backyard) breeder and nothing was done; she continued to sell boxers and other dogs. In Connecticut, I have seen local animal control officers raid places such as the place you described and remove different breeds. It's worth a shot!
