I caught the episode last night. How sad that was. My brother-in-law had an American Bulldog, he lost him to bloat. Also sad. But, he called him an Olde Bulldog. Maybe if you search that, you can get some info on them. They are the same type of dogs as Chance on the movie Homeward Bound.

Lambeau and I were at the do park a couple weeks ago and I swore I saw the biggest boxer ever running around. I talked to his owner and turns out he was an American Bulldog. I think they look a LOT like Boxers, this one was even doing a little kidney bean dance, but they are REALLY big. I think he was like 120 pounds or so? And taller than the average boxer also.

From my understanding and "Olde bulldog" means and Olde english bulldog, which is different from an american bulldog, which is different than an english bulldog which is different from a french bulldog. I agree though american bulldogs are adorable. Our oldest boxer has been mistaken for one by someone who was outside of our car looking in (they couldn't tell how big/small he was) they just saw his face.

My brothers neighbours son (what a mouthful ) has 4 American Bulldogs.
I was over his the other evening and I caught sight of them through the gate as their son was visiting. They were such lovely looking dogs, gorgeous

I'm guessing Petey, the dog on The Little Rascals, was an American Bulldog.

Our across the street neighbor breeds American Bulldogs (YES, I am surrounded by backyard breeders and the way they treat their dogs is disgusting but back to topic...) She currently has one female, who weighs about 95 pounds, and 2 males from her first litter she had when she was 7 months old (UGH) that are around 1 1/2 years old who weigh 115 pounds. They are very nice looking dogs, mostly brindle with white. One of the males jumped over their fence and was loose in the yard all day long. I brought over bowls of water and treats for him, and after the third time, he let me pet him. I gave him pieces of chicken breast and led him back to the porch and behind the gate and he was a very nice boy!

Petey was an American Pit Bull Terrier. A dog that has gotten a bad wrap due to negligent owners. They do look similar though.

There's a pet store right next door to my hair stylist, so I make it a point to visit the puppies whenever I get a hair cut (nowhere near as often as I'd like....puppies, that is, not hair cuts). I was there over the weekend and they had an American Bulldog pup available. Absolutely adorable! Except for the longer muzzle and the natural tail, he looked just like the boxer who was snoring happily beside him. I was, however, shocked to see his price tag was twice that of the boxer! Hopefully, they're not on their way to becoming the next 'must have' breed.

they can overheat very easily. I had a friend who lost one last summer to this. He was HUGE! He didn't like my husband for some reason. We never did really figure out why. All dogs generally like him. He did have on a hat though, so that could have been it.
Now they have a new am. bulldog and he is a sweetie. She learned a lesson and doesn't let him stay out when it gets warm.
