Help with 14 yr old cat

My 14 yr old cat has had diarrhea for about a week. I know it is my fault because I tried switching her food and this has upset her tummy. I thought it was a better food for her but she did not tolerate it at all. I went back to her old food and it has gotten somewhat better but still runny. My question is, I know when you have a dog with this you eliminate food for 12 to 24 hours, and then put them on a bland chicken and rice diets for a few days and gradually go back to their food. Will this work with a cat also or do you think it would make it worse? I'm really getting tired of cleaning up after her. I had to give her a bath this morning, not fun.

try baby food, chicken, beef, when my cat passed away she was 21, and in her final year to help her eat better the vet said baby food was a great substitiute for cat food. im sure it will help your cats system since its for babies its not harsh on the digestive tract. ps my cat loved it.

make sure she is getting alot of water since cats become dehydrated much faster then dogs. a way to find out is grab the skin on her neck , where a mother cat picks them up, and if the skin doesnt pull up when you tug on it they are dehydrated. if in a day or so she isnt better i would have a vet look at her. good luck. keep us posted.

Your cat lived to be 21? Wow! That is incredible! I think that is the oldest cat I've ever heard of. I read something on a site about babyfood actually. I also read to try the bland diet, so last night I cooked some rice and boiled chicken for her and we are trying that in small amounts 4 times a day. I'm hoping it works, I'm really tired of cleaning up messes and I know she can't feel good either.
