I sure hope she makes her way home. I would totally freak if one of mine wandered off. A few years ago we found a chocolate lab and a saint bernard near our house (we live out in the country). They didn't have tags but I just knew that they belonged to someone and weren't just turned out into the country. We kept them in our garage over night and the next day went door to door for several miles trying to find where they belonged. Luckily someone knew who owned them. When we went to their house the owner just burst into tears, they had been gone for several days and they thought they would never see them again. They followed us to our house and were happily reunited. I sincerely hope this story has a happy ending as well.

Weird twist

Ok tell me what you guys think of this…so my neighbor stops DH tonight and tells him that dog we tried to catch wasn’t his dog. He said he finally saw it too and that even though it looks just like his dog and is wearing the same red collar that it’s not his dog. I don’t want to say this guy is nuts but both DH & I really think it is his dog.

We don’t live in an area where there are loose dogs running the streets so what’s the chance of another dog that looks just like his dog, wearing the same collar, also in heat (her nipples & her back end were swollen) being lost in the same area around the same time? I know I shouldn’t doubt him, I mean if anyone knows the dog it’s him. But I think there is a strong possibility that since she wouldn’t come to him when he called and that she is in such bad shape that they have convinced themselves that it’s not her. What do you guys think? Maybe I’m the crazy one.

Well, I would certainly think that they can recognize their own dog but it sure is a pretty big cowinky dink that there is another loose dog that appears to be a twin to theirs. Sounds to me like they really don't care that their dog is missing and by telling you that the one you saw is a different dog, they are off the hook. Unfortunately there is now a dog (or 2 depending on what you believe) running loose, procreating, subjected to horrible possibilities and no one is trying to bring it home. To top it off it is a pitbull, which conjures up so many stories to most of the population that this story has a very slim chance of ending positively.

Why do we have to license our dogs when it should be the owners that have to be licensed to own them? You should have to pass a test!

I certainly hope there is a happy ending to this story.

The great pleasure of a dog is that you may make a fool of yourself with him and not only will he not scold you, but he will make a fool of himself too.
