New puppy born only 2 days ago...already thinking of names for this brindle boy!

Hi everyone,

I'm fairly new to this board (yup, already posted my introductions!) and wasn't posting because I was still recovering from the loss of our girl, Ripley.

We rescued a white boxer from our local boxer rescue and he tried to kill the cat on several occasions. Anyway, as difficult as it was, we had to take him back. Now Rufus, our 3-year old (he's the one in the avatar), needs a playmate. We've been in contact with a breeder and decided today to purchase one of the new pups. Born less than 48 hours ago! I'm really excited! It's been quiet around here and a new puppy will liven things up (understatement, I'm sure!)

Anyway, I've only had fawns and this guy is a brindle. Looks like he'll have a small bit of flash...but how much is yet to be determined since they change so much in the beginning.

DH and I have been tossing names around and can't seem to come up with anything clever or cute. Paco is as close as we've come...and I'm not crazy about that name.

I'd like something that rolls of the tounge and goes well with Rufus. Also, our cat's name is Abby...so I suppose we tend to lean toward people-type names.

Any suggestions?

Brutus is cute...but it won't work for us this time around because that's Rufus' dad's name. But can I say I love how Tank and Dozer work together!

What about Bongo? Sometimes I"m not the best on names. If the breeder lets you stop by for visits you might be able to see your babies personality come thru. Maybe he will be a Rowdy or a Ruckus, both would be cute with Rufus. I liked Brutus too though, too bad it doesn't work.

I like the name Rebel, that was Zeb's dad's name.

Sorry to hear that JD didn't work out. Glad to hear you are getting a puppy. Names - do you want to stay with R. You could go with Ryder. Or Royce. So exciting. I can't wait to see pictures.

Believe me, we are too. Felt terrible taking him back. But I tell you, the cat sure is happy!

Hmmm...Rebel, Rolo, Ryder...I like those. I also thought of Otto today, but Mike HATES that. I think it's cute! Capone and Gage are both in the running too.

I did go to the website that has every name known to man...and it's
overwhelming.

I just went through the naming issues!!!! We brougth our new lil' brindle boy home on Friday. He is 6 weeks old and we named him Brewer....Brew for short. We also have a boxer mix named Winston, he is 11 months!

Naming a puppy is hard work! Some other names we threw around was. Cruze, Captian, Crew, Sarge, Major, Jaxson, Jasper, Kota, Tonic, Pinto, Earl, Hank, Miller, Scout, Cashis, Axel, and Ajax....I'm pretty sure there were more, but thats all I can think of right now! Hope some of them help! Good Luck with the lil' one, they are a lot of work!!!! But worth it!
