a new rescue!- needs a name
Well My vegas is going to be one year old on the 5th and we are bringing in an older rescue girl (approx. 4yrs.) I am excited and nervous but we rescued this girl from being put down in 2 days- she is a 65 lb fawn female- the only name they had for her was her cage number (5). I want to name her something flashy yet something that shows how lucky she is- I was thinking about the name Karma- what do you think!?
also any tips on having the 2 females meet?

I think Karma is a COOL name! Or what about Charm? I just love thinking of names for babies! I think of really cool ones, and then forget them all. What about Seven? 5 for the cage # plus 2 more days = 7, sometimes a lucky number! Congrats on your new rescue! Kudos to you. give her lots of hugs and kisses for me.

Congratulations on taking in a rescue, I would try to introduce them to each other away from your home, then Vegas won't have the feeling that she has to protect her property. I love the name Karma, it is a complete change for her; I know that it will be a worrying time at first but they will be O.K. Good luck to you & please let us know how everything goes.
Is that when you are getting your new girl, on the 5th.?

Well, cage number (5) happens to be my favorite name, but since you obviously don't like it -- Karma sounds great
Congrats on your new rescue!
I'm moving this to the "Naming Your Boxer" Forum, since that is a better fit.

I found an interesting name on a baby site. Zayda, also spelled Zaida or Zada. It means lucky.

Congrats on the new addition to your family. I too, would do the introductions away from your home, that way no overprotection will be needed. I love the name karma, and zayda. Im sure you will find the perfect name for her though. good luck.

A friend of mine is actively involved with the local humane society and regularly fosters dogs until they find homes. The last one she had was a female puppy and she named her 'HOPE' - because you gotta have HOPE when you're looking for a new home like that....

Love "Karma"
Congrats on the new addition! My boxer and all my other furbabies for that matter are rescue animals. All my dogs and most of my cats are "Death Row" rescues that I pulled out of the "back room."
As far as getting the two females together, definitely do it away from your home. I wouldn't do it on leashes either though. Your Vegas won't know whether she should protect you or play with the other dog. I have three females and one male. All of my females get along beautifully. I introduced mine at our local shelter's park. It's completely enclosed but I didn't have to worry about other people's dogs getting involved. I let them meet off leash and I made sure that neither of them stayed close to me. It helped to keep my own from trying to protect me from the new dog. Make sure to have someone else come out with you and make sure to have the leashes handy in case things don't go well but give them a chance to figure things out and decide who's going to be boss because I guarantee one of them will be!
Good luck!
