We always seems to pick unique names that no one can remember or that people make fun of. But that is ok we like them. My Boxer is named after my favorite flower Lily of the Valley. We call her lilgoose because she likes it.
Our Lab is named Kilraine because one of his original owners is Irish and it is a family name.
Our new puppy (German Shorthair pointer) is named Sweetwater 420 after a Brewery in Atlanta, Georgia and one of their beers. (my husbands favorite).
My first show dog had a silly name of Jerry (given by the breeders) I changed it to Titus because his personality mimicked that of the Titus from the Holy Bible.
I think it is fun when people choose names that are special or of interest to them. I love interesting names that are sometimes questioned. It means you put a lot of thought into your dogs name and what his/her personality is.

Why the name
Well originally I kept telling my husband we were going to get a male dog and name his Diesel, as we both drive trucks. Then I fell in love with the little girl and I had no idea what to call her. My daughter was with us and just started calling her Daisy and it stuck. Now I just say I am driving Miss Daisy as we travel across the land. The name just fits her perfectly.

before my husband and i had our boxer, we were thinking of names, and nothing we really loved came up....the night before we went to pick him up (we adopted), i asked "i wonder if he has a name he is used to or can we name it ourselves...." half and hour later when i was already asleep i hear my husband say: "chopper, what about that name?"
we loved it, and he is responding nicely to it...
ps. my husband rides a cruiser bike (hehehehheheh)

Conner was named by the shelter that originally picked him up. We went through 3 days of trying to pick a new name, but Conner kind of stuck. He looks like a Conner!
Tess just came to us before we even met her.

We got Dakota as kind of a "spur of the moment" thing. We had been talking about it for weeks, and then on Sunday, coming back from skiing we decided to go "look at dogs" hahahhaa little did I know that we would fall in love immediately and HAVE to get her right then and there.
She was 8 weeks old, didn't really have a name, and for 3 days I wracked my brain thinking of a name that would be very meaningful to us. The pressure was too much, so I just randomly did name searches. I liked Mocha because when she was a puppy she smelled like coffee beans, but DH wasn't crazy about it. Then I came across Dakota, liked it, and it seemed to fit her.
Now, of course, for our next dog(s), we have a very long list hahaha!

I named my girl Romie (Short for Roman)...a few weeks before i got her I was trying to think of a name & there was something on TV about the director Roman Polansky, and for some reason, I just loved the name! Of course she has tons of nicknames - Ronna, Ronnie, Pupper-oni, Ronya....my mom swears I should have named her Odie b/c of the way she acts & b/c her ears perk up just like Odie's!

Bella
We named our girl Bella because it means beautiful in Italian. We kept saying she was beautiful. Then we found out that she was born on our 6 mo anniversary. We honeymooned in Italy so I thought of Bella and it was perfect!

Why I named My Boxer
I found our breeder in South Dakota. She would e-mail me picktures of him from the age of 2 days old.
As I saw him grow, he got cuter. I wanted to name him Cooper. It was a friends son's name, and her son was such a sweetie pie. (I can't have children) so I though Cooper would be great. My husband, thought that it may offend our friend.
We were in a restaurant eating steak, and drinking Moosehead beer. As I was looking at the pictures of this Boxer puppy, His breeder told me he was the last one born, but the largest of the litter. As we continued to eat, a waitress asked if we wanted more Moosehead beer.
My husband then said, that's it!!! Let's call him Moose!!
I didn't realize it then, but Moose turned out to live up to his name. He is 95 lbs!!!
But I love every pound of his furry bliss.

When I was growning up we had a male Boxer named Gizmo, he lived to be about 14. He was the best dog ever in my opion. So when I got married I kept trying to talk my husband into a Boxer, (he had never been around Boxer's before) but I knew I wanted a male, and another name that began with a G, but not Gizmo. So I picked Gunny, because my dad was in the Marines for 27 yrs. So I decided that would be his name, even before I got another Boxer, well my dad loved it!!! and my husband is such a Boxer freak now he says he'll never own any other kind of dog again. We do have a mixed female from the pound, got her as a pup, Quint, after Quint on the movie Jaws. It fits her too, she's 7 now. Erin & Gunny
