A middle eastern friend of mine was very taken with my irish heritage and she insisted that my baby girl have a Celtic name, so she found a web page with female Celtic names and we went through the names looking at my baby after each one. We settled on Kaitlin, and she usually gets called Katie or sweet-pea (but dont tell my sister that, i call her skin-kids sweet-pea too) And one day Katie was being particularly "2yr oldish" and i called her "Kaitlin Ann" so i guess she now has a middle name too!

Clover was going to be named "Hazel" because it just went "Ginger" (her eyes are very light, the color of whatelse ginger), "Brutus" (after teh Ohio State Buckeyes Mascot), and "Hazel" sounded sweet and kind to me, but to my DH it sounded like a name a witch would have. So we argued and argued, can you believe he wanted to name her "flopsey", I claimed she would hang her head in shame at the dog park (no offense if anyone named the pup flopsey). So after about 2 hours of throwing out names, we finally realized the day Clover was coming home...and if you're thinking St. Patty's Day, you're right...so her offical name is Lucky Clover Leaf. But we call her "Cloves" or "Clover". And it was easy to find hats and whatnot because of the holiday.

Sadie which means: LOYAL AND STRONG-
My parents were very worried because I was not gaining weight or doing much growing, but now they see how strong I'm getting!!!! Loyalty only comes with time.

The man who owns the Joe Boxer Co. had a boxer named Joe, hence the name. Just a little trivia for those who did not know that.

I see many dogs got their name from a moviestar. Axel too. When I hadn't got more idea I started to look TV magazine. I thought I perhaps found a good and suitable name for him. There was The Beverly Hills Cop on programm and Eddie Murphy's name was Axel Foley in it. I repeated it then I asked the family what was their oppinion. They said it's a good name. Nowadays sometimes we just say "ks-ks" and he runs.
Aldo's name was Nico at the rescue but we didn't want this name and he didn't pay attention at this. My husband founded his name in the dog's nameday collection.

We had four people trying to come up with names (my husband and I and our two kids, girl - 14 & boy - 10). We all had different names and couldn't agree on any, so we got out the book of baby names we had from trying to find names for our skinkids.

The only one we could all agree on was Ruby, then dad said how about Ruby Tuesday and that name stuck.

Talking My Ruby Tuesday

I am a nurse-one of my favorite patients was a 95 year old lady named Ruby. I loved that name and it was short and quick-for training. Easy to make up goofy songs and sing to my sweet dog too!!

We're both big gangster movie fans and we thought he looked like Marlon Brando when he plays Don Corleone in the Godfather. We picked his name a year before we got him and thankfully when we eventually found him he looked like a Brando.

Otherwise we would have probably went for Bobby after the Newcastle United FC manager Bobby Robson.

Our 11 week old boxer is named Dempsey after Jack Dempsey to boxer from the 1920's. We considered Tyson, but didnt want the dog to carry all the baggage, or bite ears!!

Thumbs up

Schroll's Fits of Rage
Schroll is the kennel name and I was supposed to use the mom or dad's name in some way, I didn't like See me Strut (mom) but did like Rage (dad), so I came up with Fits of Rage. IMO you have to have a call name that "fits" with the reg. name, and after going through lists and lists we decided on Fury.
I love naming new dogs, it is so fun!

My husband & I both loved the Dukes of Hazard growing up. Our first boxer was named Duke. When he passed away we got ourselves a puppy and named him Bo. Our neighbors got an English Bulldog the day after we got Bo, and they named her Daisy (our sickness evidently rubbed off on them!!). I'm sure one day we'll have an Enis or a Boss Hog...but for now we are just going to enjoy Bo!!!

Joe was a rescue and he came with that name, and it totally fits him. We got Charlie from a family in the news paper and I had a friend whos dog Charlie was recently put down, so it was in his honor, and of course we liked the name. I look at Charlie sometimes and imagine him with a different name, and I just can't. They are definitely a Joe and Charlie..... : )
