Too many Kobe's
I just did a search for "Kobe" and found out that there are at least 9 other boxers named Kobe on Boxerworld alone. I thought that the name would be so original since it's from a Japanese Steakhouse in Orlando Fla. I didn't even think about Kobe Bryant (I'm not a sports fan). But a few people have already asked us if our Kobe was named after him.
Not to mention that Kobe's brother (littermate) is also named Kobe and is owned by a good friend of mine.
I would have never thought. Don't get me wrong, I'm not upset or anything, I just think that it's so crazy!
Just wanted to share that!

Isn't it funny?
When we were looking for and waiting on our Boxer I swore that he would have an awesome unique name. I thought about this and spent many, many hours searching for a good one. He was going to be Roscoe, Tank (lol, thank goodness, it isn't), all sorts of others. Well on the 6 hour drive to get him I even took a pen and paper to jot down some more ideas. We picked him up and I still didn't have a name. The breeder suggested Jumpin' Jack Flash for a few reasons. He is flashy brindle and the only escape artist in his litter at that time (he jumped out), but that is common also. On the way back my friend said he looks like a J.J. Sure enough, one of the most common names ever, he has!!!!!! It fits him to a "T" and it was very easy for my kids to say and spell!! It is so interesting to hear all the names everyone comes up with. Some are the same, but still so special!!!!!!!

When we named each of our girls, we wanted "people" names and thought they would be unique. Well, so much for that. Both of our names are common here on BW. Lexy (Alexis, or Lexus) and Bailey. It's funny how that works! When we get our next baby, I'm gonna name her Joey (as in kangaroo!) and hope that it will be a unique name!

Joey is cute! I threaten Kobe that I'm going to start calling him hopper because of the way he hops around. Joey is more original.

From a Rocky owner, the name isn't used quite as much as other boxer names
I like the name Kobe I think it is cute! There are so many names that get used all the time and go through cycles it is hard to imagine that somewhere another doesn't share the same name.

We gave Tyson his name because his dad's name was Ali and my maiden name was Tyson so it seemed to fit. There are a lot of Tysons on BW ......so now we just call him lumpy or smush mush. That seems to fit him better now anyway.

I love hearing about how everyone came up with their boxer's name. In my situation (rescue), the moment I heard about our dog I decided to name her Derby...but then I saw her. LOL We all decided that she was NOT a Derby. LOL Somehow we came up with Riley...and she is SO a Riley.

We name our dogs after cartoon characters while our cats get human names...
BooBoo is named after the sidesick bear friend of Yogi Bear... which seems to fit as he is always hanging around us being a smart, but big goof ball...

I thought Loke would be unique too since we got it out of a Hawaiian dictionary. But there are two other Loke's on here that I know of. BUt they are spelled Loki. So at least that is different. By the way, I know the restaurant Kobe in Orlando! We're from Kissimmee!

In my experience, "Max" is one of the most frequent as far as dog names go. Lots of Maxes, or Maxxes, around.
Scrapper was so named from his birth (by Christina of PawPrint), because he just came out scrappy from the moment he breathed, but he is the biggest lover/couch potato now.

Jack is my oldest SKIN kid. I love his name. When he was younger we called him Jack-a-roo. I think Jack makes a great name for any kid...skin or fur.
