I guess I am the odd man out!
I am not a fan of pancake for a dogs name. Maybe a nickname but not the for real name!
Think about being at the dog park....."PANCAKE! COME!!"
Of course it's not my dog so my opinion doesn't mean anything! LOL

I would think a name is cool when you are comfortable yelling it out in puplic. LOL Like Cami said.

With "Pancake", it is unique, and quite a conversation starter. How many times are you willing to explain how you named her to complete strangers? That's what is gonna justify the name.

You can give them a formal name and they don't care if you only call them "silly dog" as long as you say it with love in your voice. So a formal name, with an active nickname is pretty cool in my book. You always have an option in whatever situation you find yourselves in.

crap now im stuck. i did think about the response of other people too. i never really thought of it as a nickname. so i guess that makes more sense. no im back to square 1.

Talking

I personally love the name Pancake. I once knew a bulldog named Donut, and I thought it was the greatest name in the world.
