German names for female?

Our current dog is named Fredo. He's a boston/beagle mix and since everyone stereotypes beagles as being stupid dogs, we took Fredo from the Godfather II. In the movie, he says "I'm not dumb, I'm smart, I can do stuff!"

Anyway, we'll be hopefully adding a female boxer soon and were thinking:

Ruby - female version of Rueben Carter, Denzel plays him in the Hurricane
Gina - after the German female human boxer, Regina Halmich
Sofie - a female German name meaning wisdom

I'd like a short name that ends with an -ah or -ee sound.

Any other ideas?

I am very biased we had our beautiful Sophie for 10 years so I would have to go with that name.

The first thing that popped into my mind was "Olga". Don't know why. Is that German or Russian?

Olga

"The girl's name Olga \o-lga, ol-ga\ is pronounced OL-gah. It is of Old Norse and Scandinavian origin, and its meaning is "blessed, holy; successful". The Russian form of Helga. Popular in the Russian imperial family. The Russian Saint Olga was a princess from Kiev and a 10th-century Christian convert. Gymnast Olga Korbut." ~ from thinkbabynames.com

Thanks for all of the suggestions!
