So my boyfriend stuck me with a name I wasn't sure of.

I have a three year old Boxer named Babydoll. Don't get me wrong, the name has grown on me a little. (haha finally after 3 years!?) Most of the time we call her different things, me mostly beebee doll or baby, my boyfriend normally Baby Smalls, or Baby dizzle. We get creative but basically she comes to almost anything at this point. Anyway, I'm planning on getting another Boxer soon, most likely a boy, and I made him promise to let me name him. My only problem is that I don't want to have two names that don't go together but I also don't think I want to take my boyfriend's suggestion and give him a funny name to go with it like Billy Bob. What should I do?? I always say it's a good thing I don't have kids because I would finally choose a name and then 3 days after I have my child want to change his/her name because I'm so dang indecisive, but it is important to me to not regret my dog's name while I'm calling for him to come to me at the dog park. What do you guys think?

Some trainers believe you should have a "serious" name for recall and training. Then you can call them whatever you want any other time. Some dogs associate their name with getting in trouble, so when they are called, they tend to ignore it thinking they will be punished.

I use Lily LaRue when I am serious about getting her attention and Lily Poo, Poo butt, stanky butt, Lily Pad, Lil, and many other's when not in serious mode. I works for us pretty good. When she hears "Lily LaRue" in a firm voice, she knows Mommy is pretty serious about what's going on. As long as I get her attention, then the play "come here my Lily Poo" comes in to play and she comes to me looking for love and cuddles.
