We chose Manny's name for a couple of reasons: his real name is Manolo, after a character in "Scarface,"... his parents and brothers and sisters all had names from movies and we liked Manolo because we can call him "Manny" for short, after former Kansas basketball player Danny Manning We are HUGE KU basketball fans- we even debated naming him Mario after Mario Chalmers since he made the miracle basket during the championship game.
My dad really wanted us to name Manny "Sugar Ray," after the real boxer- that's a good sports name too

Lambeau!
My little guy is named Lambeau, after Lambeau Field and Curly Lambeau - the founder, a player and the first coach of my favorite football team, the Green Bay Packers!

Fred and Lucy have a cousin (goldenpoodle?) who is named Wrigley, after the ballpark. We, or I, considerd naming Fred, Billy or Willy, after my favorite all-time Cub, sweet-swinging Billy Williams. Hubby does not share my enthusiasm for baseball (he hates it) so he ended up Fred, which suits him perfectly. I also know a dog named Fenway (Boston Red Sox park), and one pitbull named Pippen for the former Bull's star Scottie Pippen.

Bella doesn't have a sports name but my other 2 do. My DH is a Cleveland Indians fan and their stadium used to be called Jacob's Field, thus Jake's name. Now that it was purchased by Progressive Insurance Group I've threatened to rename him Piggy! My favorite football player was Reggie White who was a terror on the field and never quit. So it was only fitting to name my JRT Reggie. We also use to have a cat name Gibby - named for Kirk Gibson, my favorite baseball player.

Neither of my boys has a sports name but my brother's Jack Russell does. His name is Ripken after Cal Ripken, Jr. since he's one of my brother's favorite players. Somehow the name fits him perfectly

Our first boxer was Bubby - Bubby Brister was the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback at the time. Our good friends had a yellow lab named Steeler.
