Love everyone's stories

When we adopted Layla she came with the name Layla Ali (Layla is not spelled like the boxer, maybe they didn't know how to spell it) Anyway, we thought the name was very fitting especially because she has a "black" eye as our 4 yr old says (actually it's brindle)

Ares got his name because I wanted it to be something mythological. Ares is the Greek god of War, well, specifically of slaughter, which sounded really tough and so that was what I decided. He sooooo doesn't behave anything like his name though!! The only thing he has slaughtered thus far are a couple of flip flops

We named our pup Cooper. Bad thing is some people would say, how cute Cooper the pooper. My DH said he did not like people saying this about his big boy so we would have to change his name. We tried a new name for a few days and it just did not fit him. So he is Cooper. Not Cooper the pooper but Cooper the Shmooper.

"Buddy" was named almost by accident. My daughter at the age of 5 was very excited when Buddy came home for the first time. We decided to let her name him and the first thing she could think of was "Pretty".....

Well daddy was happy to finally have another male in the house and was NOT going to have a Boxer named "Pretty" running around! She said he was the prettiest dog she had ever seen.... That evening she was hugging him and said "Your my best Buddy"... Buddy...... It seemed appropriate and that is exactly what he has been for the past 7 years.....

Finley because our daughter liked the name. We call him several names though. Finn, Finneaus Maximus, Finn Finn. He's probably confused. LOL

We named our 6 year old boxer Hercules because his dad was HUGE and he looked like he would be almost as big. (he sure is at 85 pounds)
The kiddos suggested that name also.

My little rockstar

When I first saw Bowie, after the initial high pitched "Awwwwww!" I put him down to walk, and had a good look at him... he just had this inexplicable air about him, this rockstar attitude! He had a big chest for a puppy, and this stance that seemed to say "I rock." And I decided then and there, I had to name him after a rockstar! I let my son pick his name, out of a few other rockstar names and he chose Bowie. When he's naughty we call him by his full name..."David Bowie, leave that shoe alone!" :P

He is living up to his name too - whenever we take him out with us, everyone stops to look at him, points from a far, squeels over how cute he is... he is always being mobbed by fans!! But I'm his number 1. fan by far!!

Why we named her what we did

We have a Maxxie (Max) that is a choc lab mix who is 9 years old. He is actually my husband's dog. Then we got a boxer puppy when she was only 6months old. We named her Roxxie (Rox) so it goes along with the choc lab. The name fits her well. She is a fawn boxer with very little flash.

Wink We call her Keeta

We call her "Keeta", but since the two of us are the only girls in a house of 4 boys (including the cat) Her name is "La Femme Nikita" Meaning is "The Woman Unconquered"... because even though we are out numbered We rule this house

Cool

Our puppy has a REALLY long name. When we first got him, we were going to name him Speed Racer because we have a bird named Trixie. (My DH loved the cartoon as a kid.) After we saw his registration papers, we found that his sire's name was Captain. So, we gave him a rank: "Sergeant" as his first name. My DH's nickname is "Beau", so we named him in total: Sergeant Beauregard Speed Mohr. (Mohr is the last name.) It's a ridiculous name for such a little fella. We just call him "Sarge." LOL

I've chosen "Kaiser" for my new pup based on two reasons.

First, given the German heritage of the breed I thought a German name would be fitting and what better then Kaiser, meaning Emperor. I'm sure he'll consider himself as such once he becomes a part of our family.

Secondly, I'm a big Jeep fan who loves to offroad. Way back in Jeep's history the company use to be called the Kaiser Jeep Corporation so I thought the tie in was great. I just hope he loves to ride in my Jeeps! LOL.

If you were wondering, NO, I did not name him after the bun. Trust me, some people have asked already. Ha, Ha.
