Thumbs up

We named Tatum after Tatum Belle on the Denver Broncos. We are big Broncos fans and for some reason it just fit him!

Maverick was named after the Mel Gibson character in the movie Maverick. And his personality fits his name great! We are going to get him a collar that has spades all over it.

Loki is named after the Norse God of mischief.... When choosing his name I was also influenced by Matt Damon's character in Kevin Smith's movie, Dogma!

Murphy Brown had attitude

My Irish wife's family were Murphy's, but we had a female flashy, so we called her Murphy Brown, and she lived up to her namesake in attitude. We now have Asia, a four month old fawn. She isn't named after anyone famous, but she has met a famous person. We were walking down the street the other day, (here in our hometown,Whistler, BC)when a couple stopped and asked if they could meet her. They said they had two boxers at home. We then realized it was Beau Bridges, and his lovely wife, Wendy. Hmmmm, Beau's a good name....Cheers, Al

I guess my dog is named after someone famous

I named my boxer, Miles, after Miles Davis, the jazz musician. I went back and forth on names from Rocky to Bently, but my friend was wearing a Miles Davis t-shirt and I saw it and I thought Miles, what a good name. It fits him very well. I have pretty much decided that when I get another Boxer his name will be Marley, after the great Bob Marley, he is one of my favorite musicians ever.

Indiana or Indy is named for Indiana Jones. Our youngest son just loved those movies and when the third came out he heard Sean Connery asking Harrison Ford why he called himself Indy, after all that was the dogs name. Well, that was just it for Mike, if we get another dog after Rascal can we name it Indy? So of course we did!!

Cool Cant believe i didnt see rocky

I know you would think it is common to name a boxer rocky, but i really havent seen it. My baby came with that name and it is very fitting. I have never owned a boxer before and only had him a week, but it is hilarious when he walks up to our MUCH bigger choco. lab and punches him, I think that name has gone to his head, because he really thinks he is Rocky Balboa or something!!!

Kilbane was named after Featherweight Champion Johnny Kilbane. He held the belt from 1912 to 1923. I wanted to do a Boxer name theme but didn't want to use Boxers that are current or popular. Our next one we get I want name Bumba after the movie "The Lion King", considering how our babies can clear a room if they don't have their yogurt.

We named our male Tyson. We choice Tyson not after the fighter but, after the chicken. On our way to pick him up from the breeder we passed about 4-5 Tyson chicken houses and with the patch on his eye it just seem to fit him.

Thumbs up What an interesting thread!

So many original names.

We named Cesar (Sunset's Cesar Chavez) after my all time favorite boxer, Julio Cesar Chavez. Our super pup mix is named Cus D'Amato after Tyson's first trainer. The first boxer my husband and I had together was Jake as in Jake Lamotta the Raging Bull. And, now our son is also named Jake -- in honor of Jake the Boxer in and out of the ring!

Louie is named after the character from the book "Interview with a Vampire" he was played by Brad Pitt in the movie version, On Louie's AKC papers his name is spelled with a silent "S" but on his tags it is just LOUIE.

Keela is a name I got from the show "Rescue Me" because a character on there has a daughter named KEELA and I had never heard that name before. I thought it was pretty and different so thats how it happened.

Manny is short for Manson...and I am not quite sure if his original owner wanted that to be after Marilyn Manson or Charles Manson, never asked and hopefully its neither , hence the nickname I gave him.

Rowdy's registered name is Rawhide Rebel, call name Rowdy, after Rowdy Yates off of Rawhide. Rowdy's daddy's name is Sudden Impact, Call name "Clint" and Clint Eastwood played Rowdy Yates in Rawhide...you get the picture.
