Missing Boxer, Adel GA
Snif. This is my first post to this forum though I've been reading for many months and have gained invaluable information for our boxer girl Annabelle.
Over the summer I took in a fawn Boxer boy that was very sick with heartworms. With my dad, we had him treated, nursed him back to health and placed him with a couple who fell in love with him.
Then they did something stupid.
They took Bodhi on a road trip to Atlanta, (from Jacksonville, FL) and on the way home they stopped to eat, leaving him in the car. When they came back, he was gone, out the narrow back window they had left down. They looked for him, but no sign.
I don't think he was stolen as he is very skittish w/ new people and I can't concieve him being lured out of the car. I can totally see him squirming out because he was left there alone and didn't like it.
He was still wearing a tag with my number on it, but I've received no calls. They were afraid to tell me and I only found out last night. I spent the day making phone calls and I'm driving up to Adel tomorrow to post flyers.
If anyone out there lives in the area who could possibly let me know where the shelters are and how to contact them, as well as keeping an eye out for him I would very much appreciate it. I'm just as sad as I can be.

Well, after looking at the car and spending the day looking for him yesterday, We are pretty sure Bodhi was stolen. The window left open was too small for him to get out of, but a person could quite easily reach in to unlock the door and pull him out. His new family never thought of the possibilty of someone stealing him. They never saw anyone near the car while they were inside, but when they came back out, he was gone.
We posted fliers all over the town yesterday, spoke with the animal control officer and with the one vet in town. No one has seen any sign of him.
I just hope that someone sees him and calls, or at the least that he is well taken care of. He deserves so much.

Can you give a more detailed description of him?

We got a call this afternoon from a lady I had given a flier to, she said she's seen Bodhi. She works at a mobile home sales office behind the shopping complex where he was lost. She says he won't come near her, which is typical Bodhi - very skittish.
My boyfriend left work and jumped in the car and is on his way to Adel. The problem is that it will be getting dark when he gets there. He took Bodhi's best friend, our boxer girl, Annabelle so hopefully he won't have any trouble getting Bodhi to come to him.
I'm excited but scared that he won't be able to find him again, but Marcos says he isn't leaving that place without him.
As far as the description, in case it's still needed, he is an unneutered (not for long) male with floppy ears and a docked tail. He is fawn with just a bit of flashiness across his nose. His chest and paws are white, and the white travels up one side of his neck to end in a little hook above his shoulder. He is underweight at about 50lbs, he is recovering from a very severe case of heartworms and it's taking some time to get his weight back, so you see ribs and spine when you look at him. He is very broad chested and has a large head.
Keep your fingers crossed that this newest turn of events results in a happy ending!

Crossing all fingers (and paws)!! Good luck!
I know quite a few people in Valdosta that drive back and forth to Atlanta on weekends. If your BF doesn't find Bodhi tonight, please post and I'll send them all the description of him.

HE FOUND HIM!!!!
Bodhi is on his way home!!!! Marcos was delayed by construction detours and didn't get to Adel until after dark. He took Annabelle with him, because he knew that Bodhi would come running if he saw her. For quite some time he saw no sign of him, then he spotted him!!
He came to Annabelle just as planned, then Marcos apparently dropped Annabelle's leash in an attempt to leash Bodhi, and they both TOOK OFF IN THE DARK! He called me in a panic, because now both dogs were gone! Several minutes later, he heard them, called Annabelle and got them both in the truck.
Whew! What drama! They should be home any minute! Marcos says Bodhi has been asleep with his head on M's lap all the way home. I am so relieved and happy!
Thanks for your good wishes and help!

So happy you got Bodhi back and that he wasn't hurt. There never seems to be many happy endings so I was very happy when I read your last post
