If someone finds a lost dog in TX, can they keep it after a certain amount of time?

I won't go into the long story, but basically this is what the local Humane Society is telling me.....if a person finds a lost dog and makes a reasonable effort (and can prove it) to find it's owners, then after 30 days the dog becomes theirs. So, if effect, the owners have 30 days to respond to ads, fliers, whatever or they lose their dog. This is in Texas and I've researched this to death on the internet and can't find anything about this....anyone have a clue??

I have heard the same thing. But I don't know if it's true or not. sorry
