Hi from Kentucky!
Hello Everyone! My family just adopted a 12 week old boxer pup from a boxer rescue here, and we are so thrilled! We've never owned a boxer before, but I've only heard good things about them. A boxer actually saved my father from an attack. He was working on a pig farm, and some of the pigs began attacking him, and had him down on the ground. The boxer who lived on the farm came running, bounded over the fence into the pig corral, and fought them back allowing my father to get safely away. Talk about courageous. I've also always heard that boxers are wonderful family dogs as well, and with three kids, that was important to me. Our Sunny is a sweet little brindle, and is so great with the little kids. She loves to give kisses, and fits right in with our group. We will begin taking her to obedience training soon, as I've heard that it helps to avoid problems later on. My only concern at this point is that she seems rather thin to me. She's 15lbs (12 week, female) and I can clearly see her ribs. She doesn't look like the other roley poley pups on this site, but is rather lankey in appearance. I'm feeding her nutro max puppy (3 cups daily). Is this enough? I am so uneducated in puppy rearing, so I'm sure I will be bothering you all with many questions. I'm glad I found this website! It's a great resource.

Welcome!! It's great to have you with us! It's normal for pups that age to look thin. As long as her spine and hip bones aren't protruding, I wouldn't worry too much! Don't worry about "bothering" us, that's what the site is here for, to ask questions. If you can't find your answer by searching the previous posts, just ask! There are plenty of knowledgeable people here!

Hello and welcome to BW!!! That is a great story about your dad and the Boxer. That's great that you rescued a puppy. My Zeus is 11 weeks, weighs 15 lbs, and looks skinny too. I think it is just normal!!

Hi and welcome to BW. for doing a rescue, you're an . This is the best place to learn and share. Looking forward to seeing pictures and hearing more about your baby. Just remember the only silly question is the one not asked. Wiggles from Kilbane.

Welcome to you, Sunny and your family from Titan and I here in Indiana. Where in KY are you located? there are several members on here from Ky, IN and TN--surely someone is near you. Congrats on rescuing your little girl--you are an angel for taking her in. Boxers are excellent family dogs and the best babysitters you could ever ask for. They are also very protective, as your father found out. Can't wait to see pics of your Sunny when you get some up. Welcome again!
