Hey Everyone, John from St Louis here!
How are you guys, my name is John and I am a 23 year old 2nd year law student from St. Louis. I have lived in Iowa for the past 5 years both going to undergrad and law school here.
I played football in college and my girlfriend was a volleyball player, we recently moved in together and wanted a dog. I have always loved tigers, and my neighbor had boxer dogs growing up (I had a beagle lol), and from the second I first saw a brindle boxer I knew I wanted one!
I bought a brindle boxer in the middle of May and named him Shogun. The name resonated with me because I grew up in the martial arts, and I currently train in Brazilian jiu jitsu, and I watch MMA religiously. One of the fighter's nicknames is Shogun, which stuck out to me. Also I have an affinity for japanese culture, articular samurai, so the name Shogun, which is the leader of the Samurai, was particularly fitting to me.
I have had Shogun for a few months now, and I can tell you than not only I, but everyone I know, is in love with this crazy little dude. I found my previous beagle when I was in second grade, and he was like another brother to me, but to get a puppy for the first time, and have him look up at you and slowly bond with you has really been one of the deepest experiences I have had to this point in my life, and I wouldn't trade it for the world.
This board was very helpful to me in not only looking for a dog and ensuring that a boxer was the breed for my active lifestyle, but so far it has been very helpful to my raising "Young Gun" (nickname LOL) from finding the right food, to any limp or scratch he has. It is a privilege to finally be a part of this community and I want to say thank for all the past advice, and the advice i am sure I will gain from you all in the future. Thanks so much!!
