Greetings and Salutations from a Rottie owner

While I don't personally own a Boxer, I have been curious about this site given it's age and that it's linked to the Pet Food Analysis page. Despite the fact that I have a Rottweiler, proper humane training is fundamental to any breed, so I am sure there will be plenty of interesting reading for me here.

I to have a co-worker who owns a Boxer though, and I hope to get him interested in this site as a means of advice and fellowship much like the Rottie site I am also a member of has been for me.

Red face

Hey there, I'm new too and don't own a Boxer yet, but decided to join to learn about the breed, as a long time [since 1979] Rottie owner I've dedicated much of my learning towards Rotties. Now a family member is getting a Boxer and I'm hoping he's done his homework on the health not merely going to someone who doesn't get any heart clearances, I didn't know Boxers are prone to 2 major heart ailments, one of which is genetic per a linked page I read last night. Wow, I'm sure most puppy/dog buyers really don't know about the Boxer heart issues and how to buy a good puppy from a dedicated hobby breeder who isn't into it for their primary source of income [like many BYBs surely are].

My last Rottie was a beautiful girl from a shelter, a terrific calm, stable pretty girl, much like dogs I've seen in the ring including at the annual Special up in PA near me. She's gone now and much missed, it's too tough to talk/write about her yet, she just left us about a month ago and I think I still hear her paws and jingling collar in the long upstairs hallway. So depressing. But she had a fun fulfilling life and enjoyed her food bowl a lot, along with home cooking pretty regularly.

Welcome My Kilby LOVES Rotties, in fact her best friend is a rottie she met at obedience school. The rottie is HUGE but one of the most gentle natured dogs I've ever seen (lucky for Kilby who can be a little over the top at times ).
