Talking Dog Lover finally getting a Boxer after much research

Long time dog owner [Rottweilers]now ready for our first Boxer, not a rescue. I've done that for years and now am ready again for a COE breeder puppy, but am having doubts as none I' ve seen advertised so far seem to have the health clearances I want in my sire/dam prospects yet the conformation is there and so are the front end titles, not OB titles, which I'd like to see, but so far my search is fruitless.

I'm in York PA, which is Southern/Eastern PA above Baltimore, but west of Philly we have lots of horrid puppymillers & tons of ignorant BYBs up here and many, many unwanted dogs who're sick and abandoned, or just dumped onto shelters or rescues when the puppy breath is over and the dog is untrained and unmannered.

I'm looking for a show potential puppy at this point, for a hobby for myself, retired, and to motivate me to get out again andgo on long hikes with my dog. We live on 3 acres and have a nice home, no kids and no other dogs though I may rescue another Rottie when my not here yet puppy grows up to around 2 or 3 yrs old. I'd like to also title my new puppy on the back end and have been learning more recently on clicker training and motivational methods versus the old compulsion methods I learned 40 yrs ago as a kid.

I'm named Hayley. I Had Rotties and drive a Volvo now.

ROTTWEILERS REALLY ARE TERRIBLY MISUNDERSTOOD AS A BREED, hence all the freaking idiots and morons wanted one and many still do, despite BSL and insurance companies dumping homeowners from their rolls due to breed alone. Heck, many times I'd be asked by perfect strangers [and talk about strange] if my dog was a "pure blood RockWelder" to which I finally had to let loose on a moron asking in return, "Hey do you ever go to dog shows? No? It's much easier to have an opinion I'd listen to if you did.' Or I'd get the infamous, isn't your dog kinda small,[she was a bitch obviously] by some total moron who 'had a friend who had a 200 lb Rottweiler' - which I dubbed Rottopotomuses. I gave out lectures freely to those who annoyed me and had the gall to argue with me about breed standard and history. A week didn't pass when we weren't asked in perfect seriousness, 'IS THAT A ROCKWELDER'?. I used to laugh until some women at a local park asked me why I brought my 'vicious' dog to their park and I replied, So I can find a kid to feed to my dog. While I hooted with laughter. The person looked sheepish at least and I gave my rote lecture about genetics and environment on temperament and noted my dog was old, trained, on a lead and ignoring her juicy looking kids, having just eaten an old lady a few hours earlier! I liked to tease people to make a point. Like who brings a killer beast to a park full of little suburban tots? Sheesh talk about a hassle. And my last Rottie was such a calm, steady dog, ignoring all the rude dogs off lead who'd get into her face and bark and one dog even bit her ear clear through, a JRT dog, for which the owner didn't offer any apology or even to cover my vet visit. I mentioned to her how my dog could kill her dog in one chomp and a shake despite his being a little ankle biting punk. She shrugged and walked off. Yeesh.

Seriously, I love Rottweilers.

But, I've wanted a Boxer since I was a kid and now is my chance. No kids at home, some extra time and a desire to compete. Plus my homeowner's insurer won't cancel us automatically due to breed discrimination. Funny how I still get p.o'd at the memories of how many indignities I've endured at the mouths of the public for my sweethearts [all my Rotties were super nice, calm dogs with steady temperaments]. Now all I'll have to do is find a good COE breeder with health proven dogs and who have good OFA ratings and good hearts and who look like the breed standard.

THankfully due to this site, i'm more aware of the full scope of boxer health issues [and the 2 types of heart problems] since I've only kept up on Rotties for years [they have a lot of SAS in the breed, including in top German lines] - a top German import dropped dead in his crate at a show 2 yrs ago, he cost his American breeder $75,000.00 -seventy five thousand dollars!!! And he's dead now, though she collected his semen and is offering it anyway to other breeders. What a sham. She is campaigning his offspring and breeding his daughter. So much for her COE claims.
