Smile Howdy from Wisconsin - it's already snowing!

Hey there. My husband and I just adopted an 8 week old brindle boxer boy who was rescued from Kentucky after his mama got attacked by a wild dog. His name is Rocky and we've had him for 5 days now.

He is doing well so far - no accidents in the crate and seems to understand he needs to go outside. EVerytime we take him out he goes RIGHT away - maybe because it's soo cold here

Anyway - looking forward to getting plenty of advice and posting questions as we grow with our little guy. I'm a first time dog owner and want to do it the right way and heard boxers are great. I'm not disappointed in my decision so far

Welcome from another Wisconsinite! I'm in Appleton and I just brought home an 8 week old boy last week (yeah, he's nine weeks old now). I'll be looking forward to hearing more about your new baby!

Welcome to Boxerworld! Winter has certainly come early this year. We had snow on friday, fortunately most of it has melted. There is more in the forecast though. House training can be a challenge in the winter. I got Moto in the winter and it wasn't fun teaching him to go outside. I would get your boxer a coat. A child size hoodie works well. That is what I used on Moto and they are cheap. There are pictures of him wearing one in my gallery. http://www.boxerworld.com/photo/show...ge=2&ppuser=26

Smile update on Rocky

Thanks for the update. Our little Rocky is such a good boy so far. A bit nippy when he gets TOO excited, but once we walk away and leave the room we open the door and find a 9 week old beautiful puppy sitting calmly and waiting for us to come back and play.

Last night was funny - I have to share - not sure if anyone will read this. My husband and I were on the couch, rocky tries to jump up alot. After a few failed attempts and us yelling OFF he sits and lays on the ground. However, after a minute or so he walked over into his crate and laid down and fell asleep. HE PUT HIMSELF TO BED!! He is definitely not afraid of his crate which is good. It's still hard for me to put that guy in the crate when all I want to do is cuddle with him. But I don't want a big boxer boy in my bed all the time, so the crate it is. I'm going to get him a doggy bed eventually when he can be fully trusted and hopefully he can sleep on that instead of in the crate.

Just an update
