Hello...New Member
Greetings I am a new member. Though I do not currently own a boxer(s), I am really hoping to change this. Currently I am surrounded by my wife's cats. It's not that I dislike cats, I am just more of a dog lover especially boxers. So, I am hoping to alter my animal surroundings.
Growing up I was surround by boxers. My parents purchased a boxer when I was born, Ghengis (Gus). Gus was an incredible dog whose courage was only surpassed by his loyalty. Gus passed at the age of 13. It was the first time that I had to deal with mortality. Needless to say it was difficult to move forward. Up until his death, he was my lifelong companion; a champion of children and a defender of the home front as a would be robber discovered. After Gus was Dixie another grand boxer who would live until my 25th birthday. It's been 12 years since I have owned a dog and I have been feeling that boxer tug for some time.
My situation has not been the best for dog owning but that is changing. With this in mind, I decided that it's time to start looking. But I do not want to make any unwise choices so I am looking to become literate on the breed and the "dos and do nots" of purchasing a boxer as well as some tips with interspecies relations. I know Dixie's favorite chase toy was the neighbor's cat. Thus, I found this site.
I look forward to meeting some new people, sharing my experiences with the breed, and becoming more informed about boxers.
ObyCatz (circled by cats)
Thanks

Greeting from SE PA!!
Welcome!! This site has a lot of wonderful information & great people to share with. I think it's time to start putting hints around the house so your wife will see how important it is for you to have a boxer. We got our cat first after the loss of my first boxer--Ace-the cat-thinks he's a dog--I've never see a more personal cat--I think it's my first boxer reincarnated-he follows me around just like Leggs did. We have now introduced a Chessie boy & Tessa the monster boxer. They do try to beat him up-but he holds his own--especially when we have to save him--doggie slobber is not becoming--it makes him have a "spiky" hairdo. We all wish you well on your quest & again-welcome
