Starting from scratch here with no knowledge so bear with me !! LOL

I need to go to the store today so If I want to get enough for 2 weeks for my 2 boys what and how much should I get ? I have frozen ground buffalo in our feezer - is that OK for them ??

TIA

Well, if you are using a crock pot with chicken thighs or breasts or pieces with bone you would cook for about 24 hours so the bones totally mash up. If it is just ground buffalo meat with no bone, I'd just cook like you would any stew with veggies, 6 to 8 hours maybe? Just toss everything in and cook. What you get depends on what you want to put in. I used sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, blueberries, frozen spinach, green beans, peas. You could add oatmeal or brown rice if you wish, and it does help it last a bit longer, but I didn't use it. I don't know how big your crock pot is, and I was cooking for two dogs. I used a pressure cooker too. Crock pot will work great, I'd just add more meat than veggies and carbs because that is where their protein should come from is the meat. I hope that helps somewhat.

The crockpot method will work but it will just take longer. Before I used the pressure cooker, I would boil ground beef and add veggies and pasta, oatmeal or rice. My 2 don't really care for oatmeal. I think they don't like the pasty consistency. I use either pasta or rice. You can also add beans for extra protein.

I bet they would love the ground buffalo! I also keep an eye out for reduced price pork and beef. Sometimes I can find bone in pork cheap. I cook and then remove the bone.

My 2 also love canned mackeral. About every 2 weeks, I make a stew using macaroni, canned mackeral, carrots, green beans, navy and kidney beans and tomatoes. They LOVE this meal...but their breath after eating is nasty!!

Wink

Try a dried food mixer where you can mix a protein source with it.
