The only issue with the UK product (or any Frontline with an expiration date) (if it has an expiration date on the Frontline it is NOT for approval sale in the USA) is that it's illegal to purchase and have it brought over to the USA as it is NOT an EPA approved product here in the states and you can be subjects to extremely large fines. It is also not the same product as sold in the USA and for purchase here is considered to be "counterfeit" according to the EPA site as well as Frontline itself.

Well maybe. Frontline has an expiration date sold in other countries other than the USA, it is not the same product sold in the USA as sold in Australia, England, etc even though it still has the Frontline name and is made by the same company. Each country has their own EPA requirements for pesticides and Frontline must conform to those country's standards. For the USA ONLY any frontline product that has an expiration date is counsidered counterfeit for this country because it does not comply with our EPA regulations and standards and is illegal to bring into this country as well as to purchase according to USA standards. Other versions of Frontline (ones that have expiration dates) do not conform to the USA's EPA regulation standards and therefore are considered counterfeit in this country and are supposed to be disposed of in a safe way and not administered to one's pet.

There are counterfeit's all over the world, to find out what a counterfeit product would look like for your country you'd need to do some research and if you have something equivilent to the USA's EPA in your country then maybe their website could help.

WOW! I didn't realize all that stuff BxrMommie. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. This has been a real eye opener for me LOL. I also tend to forget this site is all over the world. I just get to talking to everyone, and feel as though you are all right next door
I haven't had a chance to check out the other site, but will do so this evening. Thanks again.

I use a one from bayer called advantix and find it works really well so if you can't get frontline see if you can find this. I hear there is also one available now that combines a wormer with the flea and tick repellant. Has anyone tried this?

There's more than one that does this (Advantage Multi is one Sentinel is another and I believe there's one or two more). However, personally I do not apply flea treatment every 30 days as Frontline can be good for up to 90 so I apply it every 60, if you are using a separate heartworm and flea product you can taylor it this way however if they're one in the same you cannot and you're giving extra chemicals that may not need to be given all of the time. So just a word of caution in using those products.

Also, please be careful, I have heard many scary stories regarding Advantix over the years. It is also toxic to cats if you have cats living in your household.

I think part of the difference with the Australian version of Frontline Plus is that it covers the Australian Paralysis Tick, it can be a deadly little bugger and it is only found over here so the US version would not have or need the "active ingredients" for that particular nasty or whatever you want to call it in it's version.
