nail clippers (Dremel and PediPaw)?
I was actually trying to cut Roxy's nails myself when she was younger and ended up making her bleed, so I'm a little worried about cutting her nails again.
I was looking at PediPaws Pet Nail Trimmer, but the reviews at amazon were horrible. I was searching this board to see if anybody had used this and saw a lot of comments on using Dremel Pet Nail Grooming Kit.
I was looking at the Dremel 761-03

Ditch the one for pets nails and just get a regular cordless Dremel it runs around $35-$40 on e-bay. The one for pets nails, for larger dogs like Boxers, IMO it just isn't powerful enough.
I've been using a regular cordless Dremel for, wow 3 1/2 years now and use it every 2-3 weeks on both of my dogs and never had them bleed.
Good luck!

I got the "doogie dremel" on ebay pretty cheap. But as mentioned above, it is just like a regular dremel. It takes the same refills as the regular dremel also. Tyson loves his now. Just be patient with your baby when you first do it. I used tons of treats. I did a nail, treat, nail, treat. Now, he'll just lay there until I get them all done to get his treat. I would recommend the dremel above the pedi paws.

We also use the dremel and got it off ebay and we have never had a problem with it. Dakota just lays there and doesn't have a problem with us doing it at all.

I found this guide online to the dremel process for dogs' nails.. It appears to be very thorough.. Just curious what you folks that have been using the dremel for awhile thought of it.. Good guide? Not so good? Getting ready to start doing this myself and want to be prepared..

The article is pretty much what I did and do with Tyson. We got him used to it before we even began to trim his nails. The first time he saw it turned on, he was so funny. He wanted to play with it, doing his play barking and jumping around. But when it was turned off, we let him sniff it all he wanted.
We used a lot of liver treats doing his nails at first. He now only gets one or two treats when we are done with each foot. A treat per foot or so.
I actually have the pet dremel model 750 4.8 volt rechargeable one. I really like it. It has a high and low setting. We use the high one if they need a lot trimmed and the low one for quick trims and his black nails. The black nails, we only take the "tip" of them off. Since we can't really see the quick, we don't go too far down on those ones.
Here a link to the one I have that I found on the dremel website. I know ebay has them for around $20-$25.

That was another one I was looking at. The one concern I had was getting one that's cordless. I know cordless is really nice if I'm doing something outside, but I thought maybe having one with a cord would be better and maybe last longer as far as the charging and using it.
I compared the Dremel 750-02 for ebay and amazon and amazon is cheaper when including shipping if it's brandnew. The cheapest I could find on ebay for buy now was 32 dollars shipped and amazon has it for 30 bucks shipped.
The Dremel 761-03 is only 5 dollars cheaper, but not sure why it's worse?

Personally I have the Dremel Minimite (it's on e-bay if you do a search) and I've had 2 of them in the past 4 1/2 years. They last me a little over 2 years each doing both of my dogs nails every 2-4 weeks. It's cordless and does both of them just fine and was absolutely worth the $40 IMO. And during those 2 years I never have to replace anything on the Dremel.

I personally like the cordless so I am not wrestling with the cord. It is holding up great. I have been known to use it on a few things around the house with other attachments on it.
The one I got off ebay was a new one in original packaging. You can also keep an eye out at hardware stores like Lowes and Home Depot, Sears maybe for them on sale. If it has more rpm's you can always just use it on low Anywhere that sells a dremel will have the filing drums you need too. They are pretty universal.

We have a regular Dremel not sure what model. Cody does OK......Aniah hates it. You can really smell burning nails when we used it. We just recently got a Pedi paws and have had wonderful results with it. Neither pup minds and we have been very pleased.

We also have the minimite cordless one. I found the cordless to be very convenient esp during these nicer months we've been doing Dakota nails outside. After he runs around for a bit I'll have him lay down and we do it out on the grass.
