We have a regular Dremel not sure what model. Cody does OK......Aniah hates it. You can really smell burning nails when we used it. We just recently got a Pedi paws and have had wonderful results with it. Neither pup minds and we have been very pleased.

We also have the minimite cordless one. I found the cordless to be very convenient esp during these nicer months we've been doing Dakota nails outside. After he runs around for a bit I'll have him lay down and we do it out on the grass.

I'm suprised you like pedipaws better than the dremel. I'm wondering why you think the pedipaw is better than a standard dremel? On amazon I was reading the reviews and the reviews for pedipaw were really bad and they say you put the nail in, but you can't see what your doing and a few other complaints about the pedipaw. It's only 10 dollars, so it's by far the cheapest, but the complaints are really bad. The majority of people reviewing pedipaw gave it the worst rating you can give it.

If you get a chance check out that article posted.. She explains how to avoid the burning.. You're absolutely right- the burning is bad & should be avoided

I think one of the main reasons is that the pups don't mind it a bit. There was no major stuggles and no unhappy doggies. Big plus. And we are pleased with the results the nails were nicely rounded and not sharp in anyplace.
The Dremel we have is very powerful and causes a lot of stress for the pups. Very loud and lots of dust and like I mentioned before a horrible burning smell. We just were not pleased with it at all. It has come in handy for removing paint off of an antique oak bed though .

I think I'm going to end up buying the Dremel 761-03 model, because the models with the cord seem to cost almost twice the price. The other model I was considering was the Dremel 750-02 model, but the
1) Dremel 761-03 for pet model does 7,000/14,000 RPM and the 750-02 only does 5,000 and 10,000 RPM
2) Dremel 761-03 is slightly cheaper
3) A lot of complaints on the battery of the 750-02, especially since it's not Lithium-ion batteries and after awhile those lead acid batteries can't hold their charge. It might take 4 years for this to happen, but the double AA batteries of the 761-03 seem to make more sense, even though I'd prefer to have a cord.
Since it's just a Rotary tool kit, which I had one in my garage that is broken, I was considering getting this one, which seems to offer the best speed performance for it's price and more things it comes with even though it's not pet related.

The one I have that is the rechargable larger battery took 2 years with doing 2 dogs every 2-4 weeks before it wouldn't hold a charge anymore. And honestly by that time the grinder was wearing down too and replacements aren't terribly cheap, so I just bought a whole new assembly. I figured when I only spent $30 on it originally it's $8 per dog per time at PetSmart to take them to get their nails cut ($15 if you get them dremmeled) so I had definitely gotten my $30-$40 worth out of it that's for sure!

IMO I would get the one that is most versatile. You can use it for more than just nails. You can also use it around the house for different repair jobs. Even at $30, it's a good deal. We go to Harbor Freight a couple times a year. Love the store, but it's 2 hours from our house
But either one you get, I think you'll like it.
I never spent this much time figuring out what to get my kids for Christmas LOL.

I have the Black & Decker version of the dremel that I got years ago in a set of cordless tools. I'm not even sure if they make them anymore. Thor doesn't mind it but Arabella will only let me do her nails if my husband holds her. I would definitely recommend cordless because the cord will distract a dog.
