Question Off-line BR promotion

Trying to figure out the "proper" way to promote Boxer Rescue. We don't have a Rescue group in our area and the closest contact is 90 miles away. There are always people in my area looking for Boxers...hopefully some would be willing to adopt a Rescued Boxer. Any suggestions? I just don't want to do more harm than good!!

What about promoting your rescue group to your local Petsmart?

90 miles away isn't bad at all. We are covering a whole state - hundreds of miles! If someone wants to add a new family member, we figure they won't mind doing some driving (we do a lot of driving, too). Did you check to see if the nearest rescue is covering your area?

We occassionally run an ad in the local paper 'Boxer Rescue needs assistance ph ......." Have had some very good responses from that. The two local shelters and all the vets in our district have a flyer. We actually get most enquiries through vets or just general word of mouth.

200+ miles away from rescue

Hiya folks,

Just a short note here. I live in the suburbs of San Antonio, TX, and I decided to adopt through Lone Star Boxer Rescue in Houston. 200+ miles isn't that far to find a loving boxer. Waiting for mid-June when I'm planning on driving from San Antonio to Houston to visit several of the available boxers.

Cheers,

I know exactly what you mean! There is no Boxer rescue in my area either and when I contacted our local Animal Rescue League, they sounded perplexed at the very idea!! I asked if they could contact me when a boxer was brought in and they just flat out said "no". I would have to keep checking with them...anyway, the flyer thing is a good idea. I'm sure they would have no objection to my placing some in their office...I will contact the closest rescue and discuss this with them.
