Ok, I'm going to say, I didn't even know we needed our cats on heartworm prevention until I read the application asking if they were on it.

I have since done research and saw there are a couple products we can use. My husbands been taking the cats to the vet so I can't say they didn't tell us for sure...I'm willing to put my cats on something, especially since one cat has taken to going outside w/ us at times (she stays right with us in the yard and has a collar, harness, and leash depending on what we can find...she always has the collar for sure though.)
My question is, by answering no to this question, did I blow our chances of even being looked at? We love our pets and we've taken care of all of them the best we can. Our last dog was put down due to cancer...we even did a $400 surgery to try to save her, but the tumors were back w/in a month and we finally put her down...our siamese cat who had cancer was under treatment from the vet, had surgery, didn't stay free and clear but lived w/ her tumor until she passed on her own...she wasn't in pain like our dog was. We love our animals and would do anything we can for them w/in our means so I need to know if this is something I need to contact the rescue about and tell them that I am willing to put them on heartworm prevention. How impt. is this question for cats?
