Adopting 6 year old boxer

This is my first boxer. I have had other dogs before but they were all puppy's. I was wondering how is it adopting on older boxer. He is six years old. I was wondering how boxers are at that age. And what should I expect?

If he is a balanced 6 yr old, life should be great!!! He's more subdued than his younger counterparts and most likely housetrained.

How lucky for him for you to have found him! He will probably be more dedicated and appreciative for the home you will give him. Have fun finding out his personality and his silly quirks. Every boxers has one! LOL

We have two that we got as pups and one that we adopted at age 4. Other than not having 'baby pictures' of Turbo, the only differences are those you would see any way between personalities. Getting an adult dog is not that much different from making a new friend as an adult - you just have to get to know each other by spending time in each other's company.

When you get your boy, make sure you give him time to acclimate to his new environment before you start introducing him to family, friends, etc. Whatever his background was (good or bad) he's now facing new challenges - new home, new family, new rules, etc. If he has been in a foster home, find out what routines he has been following and stick with them for the near future. Sign up for a training class whether he needs it or not. It's good bonding time and creates opportunities for him to rely on you for guidance.

Good luck and have fun! Turbo has been with us almost a year now and we're still learning new things about him. He's quite the clown most days and has become my husband's shadow.
