This is so awful. I can't believe people at the Humane Society would do such a thing!! They're supposed to be there to HELP us and HELP dogs! This is definitely the craziest thing I've ever heard.

If you are not on their property and not causing a ruckus, seriously what can they do to you? When the police get there, tell them someone stole your dog and you have reason to believe it was taken to this facility and let them know that you demand answers. Personally if it were me I would have a hard time holding my temper but I would camp at their doorstep every single day until someone shows me proof of what really happened. I would also have some sort of proof of ownership. Does your friend have the receipt of their dog license?

I second this. Stand outside the place (make sure you're in a public spot though, not on THEIR property) and call the police, call the tv station, hand out fliers with a picture of the dog. They will probably threaten to call the police on you, but really they cannot make you leave if you're not on their property.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you find him. I can't imagine what your friend must be going through

Call the Mayor's office, your state reps, senator's, govenor's....of course continue with the news and definitely file a police report.
They did not kill a full blooded dog and keep a kennel full of mutts. My belief as well is that they sold that poor pup. Good luck....sending out many vibes to that precious baby and his owner that he is returned home.

Please everyone we need support here. Please post in the commnet section so that they see that this is not right!! This was the such a loving boxer, goofy and playful. It makes me sick that there now trying to say he was aggressive. They was never once mentioned to us and we have been down there three times! This is there pitch at trying to make it "ok". Please comment on the strory, Im hoping if enough people voice there opinion it might give us a larger voice to be heard. Thank you and I will keep you updated.

Also they claimed to not have anymore room...but when we went down there that night looking for boost after they had already closed we saw several empty kennels!! each seperated and had an individual dog house, but no dogs!!!!

So sad, this is just heartbreaking. But I too would not give up. Fight like Hell and make such a big stink about this thing and you will get answers. Boost may very well be gone....but I would not give up till they start talking about more than just "space issues". I have tried to drop strays off at shelters and the humane society years ago and was turned down on several occasions due to lack of room. The dog was never touched by any employees. This story sounds fishy as all get out. Poor little Boost, I sure hope that he is still alive and that he finds his way back home.

Wow this is just so crazy! I am so sorry that your friend is going through this and for Boost too, poor little man. I just pray that he is still out there and he can be returned to his 'Daddy'. I hope the lawyer is able to do something because surely if they did euthanise him there are legal rights to the body. The ' humane' society certainly doesn't warrant the name there for sure and I can't believe they 'claim' to not know the difference between a boxer and a pit bull. Moody? Please! To be fair I would be too if I was away from home with complete strangers man handling me!! I hope this has a happy ending.
I wish you the best of luck with sorting this out

Just caught this post and it is more than a bit bothersome. Shelters, if they are animal control, or 501c organizations are usually required to hold strays for a set number of days to give the owner time to claim their pets. If they had no space, they should have informed the older couple who brought Boost to the shelter. This is not uncommon practice, especially among no kill shelters. This story, putting a healthy animal down, in less than 30 minutes from turn in sounds fishy to me as well. Was Boost neutered? If not, a puppy mill would likely want him for stud.
Definitely cause problems for this shelter. If a stray turn in was not held for the 7 days AL law says they should, do all you can to see this shelter loses its 501c status. That could end their days in business.
I hope somehow, some way, Boost is alive and well and plotting his was home where he belongs.
Do keep us posted.
