We're going to Foster!!

After discussing it for quite some time, my dh and I decided to Foster. We applied to the Rockin P Rescue, which covers GA/AL area, and have made it through the second round. Next is the home visit. They're supposed to call me next week to set up a time. We're sooo excited!! A little apprehensive of the unknown with so many variables and the kids being a major one, but we're going for it! Can't wait to have a special male Boxer in our house!

Congrats Betsy!! From what I've read, I think you'll be a great foster.

That is wonderful that you are going to foster! You are providing a boxer the opportunity to find a permanent, loving home. Fostering has been a very rewarding experience for us - we have learned something new from each of our fosters that we have been privileged to work with. It has been difficult to say goodbye, but we make sure they go into wonderful homes and this allows us to help save another boxer in need.

I look forward to hearing about your fostering experiences!

Good for you. There are never enough foster homes so I’m sure your rescue appreciates you volunteering! But just a warning its harder to let go than you’d think. We ended up adopting our 1st foster although he was an exceptional case. He had some injuries that he was recovering from so we had been fostering him for several months. By the time he recovered he had become a member of our family so we couldn’t bear to let him go. After that experience I was reluctant to foster again fearing that I’d never be able to let any of them go. I mulled over it for a while and finally decided to give it another try. Currently we are fostering two boxer puppies and although I adore them I can’t wait to see them get their forever homes. I have found that I have a weakness for abused, injured or senior dogs but the healthy young ones I don’t worry too much about. Now that I know my limitations fostering has become a lot of fun.
