i think this lady is nuts

a lady came in the store today and bought a big bag of canidae and made a comment about her dogs being over weight, so asked how much she fed them and she said 1 cup a day for 2 days then 2 cups a day for a day.then she makes them fast for one week a month and i was shocked and asked what vet she uses thinking her vet recomnded this but she said she read it in the WDJ i never see this in any of my copies but i did let it lapse for a couple months so maybe i missed it ...anyone know why she would do this and is it healthy ,sounds crazy to me.....

i asked her what kind of dogs she had and she said a bunch of them....

Sounds nuts to me too. Are you sure she's fasting them a whole week? There are people who fast their dogs for a day, and sometimes that's for a whole day every week (to give the digestive system, and organs like the liver and pancreas a rest). But I don't think I've ever heard on anyone recommending fasting for a whole week straight.

i hope i misheard her too,she said it was to clean thier system out.now ya have me thinking maybe it was for one day a month i, i'll ask a guy at work he was right thier too,but he did make a comment saying he's sure glad he's not her dog................

I have read about fasting for a day. I know people who fast their dogs for one day. However, a week seems cruel. Maybe she meant to say day but said week. I was telling someone one day that they should avoid wheat and corn but it came out wheat and chicken. My brain got ahead of my mouth. Fortunately, I caught it and corrected it.

Maybe you misunderstood her. We can only hope. A week? I am still shaking my head in amazement. My dogs would be doing some major stealing, counter surfing, garbage picking and more than annoying begging.

It just cannot be right. If it is I would report her for animal cruelty.
