TOTW Recall information

I know everyone was worried about salmonella however i think the recall is actually more for the pet owner rather than the pet. Dogs eat raw food, eggs, ect constantly and while maybe their digestive tract reacts differently to them, I dont think they can get salmonella posioning. My dog ate 2 30lb bags of the alleged "tainted" food and never skipped a beat. Once I heard about the recall I talked to the petstore and they confirmed it is more for the humans who put their hands into the bags feed their dogs, then sit down to eat a sandwich or something without washing their hands...Makes sense I guess...

I took my bag the remains of TOTW 30lb bag back to the petstore where I bought it and recieved store credit and got a bag of Earthborn Coastal Catch for Baxter until TOTW gets everything straightened out.

They actually can and do suffer the effects of salmonella poisoning. Younger pups, seniors and dogs who suffer from various health issues are most susceptible (poor immunity). Many can be exposed and actually carry the bacteria but never become sick. That being said they can infect humans and it will be in there stool which has the potential to infect other dogs (those that come in contact with infected stool).

Having gone through two 30 pounds bags of the recalled food and not getting sick is a wonderful thing (and lucky)!!
