Side note: It is ok to add water to TOTW but always check the bag, even the fine print for citric acid. If it is listed, DO NOT add any liquids. It is said that the water conteracts with the acid and extreme gases build up in the digestion process. Causes bloat and painful gas.....neither fun to have.

Both my boys are also on TOTW and are doing fantastic with it. So far I have only fed the one with venison, but will be trying the fish one (Pacific Stream) next time.

Question

It's me again...lol The boys are now on TOTW (yellow bag) and for the first time since we had Mugsy he is finally having solid stool. (never thought I would be so happy over poop...lol) Rocky is doing great on it too..on the old food they were getting 2 cups each twice a day ...I took everyones advice and cut back to 1 1/2 cups each twice a day.. The one thing that I have noticed is that now they are going potty more then they ever have. Mugsy always pooped 3 times a day and now he is going 4 and Rocky used to only go twice and now he is going 3..could they still be adjusting to the food? They had their first feeding of it Monday evening...Should I cut them down to one cup each twice a day? or is there anything else I can do?

HA!!

I switched my girl to Wellness, because they say that their protein sources do not contain ethoxyquin. Mind you, it's the most expensive food in the store, but I really like it. All my girls are on it now, and Suki is on the puppy food. Stools are firm, and I supplement with their 95% salmon or lamb canned food, to put some weight on her, and a teaspoon of pumpkin. She loves it.

just wanna note it's not always accurate. It said the closest here was in another town, but I went to a small local pet supply and they had some TOTW.

edit: Brandynicole, I have my pup on Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul but I believe Wellness Puppy is another good option! Why isn't Orijen good? Because of the high protein?

Thats the reason I was switching because of the warnings of high high protein levels of Orijen..... Besides that it gave her the most awful gas a puppy could ever have! I am blending in TOTW yellow bag and Orijen now... she loves the TOTW.... sometimes she tried to pick around the Orijen and just eat the TOTW kibbles....
