Switching from puppy to adult...such a serving difference?

Daisy will be 5mos next week, and I am switching her from Orijen Puupy large breed to Orijen Adult. I am confused/concerned at how the daily serving changes so much from one food to the next. On the puppy, I am giving her just over 3 cups a day, but the adult (for her current weight), calls for no more than 2 1/4 cup, and that is for an active dog.

I know what is on the bag is just a guidline, but is there really that much difference in the formula between the two foods to take out a whole cup of food a day?

Thanks!

Others will chime in soon but i think 5 months is too soon to switch over to adult food. I kept my dog on puppy till about 12 months. Either way, good luck with the switch...

No, dogs are considered adults by way of premium foods at 6 months old, so the OP is just fine. And yes there is typically a difference because their growth slows down DRAMATICALLY at 6 months old so they start to consume less food around this age. You may need to adjust it a little bit for your specific pup, but it's normal no worries.

She is still a puppy. You should be feeding her an amount for her expected weight, not for her current weight.
