As I am typing this I am realizing how much stuff they put in dog food. I feed Orijen myself but a friend wanted to try this stuff and I am trying to convince her that it may not be that good but she feeds Iams (yuck) so is it a step up from her Iams.

It's obviously not grain free, but all in all the ingredients themselves are not bad at all. If it is reasonably priced, she can find it in her area, she can afford it, and her dogs do well on it, then it's definitely more than a step up from Iams it's LEAPS AND BOUNDS better quality than Iams so she should be just fine IMO.

Its about 8.00 less a bag than Iams. So I am going to get her a bag to try out. I would prefer them to use Orijen but you know how some people are.

It doesn't look too bad and it would certainly be big step up from Iams.

No offense intended here but there are some people (ie myself) who understand about dog nutrition and find it important and still do not care or want to use high protein and high fat foods, such as myself. Orijen ingredient wise is a good food, however I do not personally use or recommend it to people because I do not like the incredibly high protein and fat content. So, everyone is entitled to make their own decision and IMO she should be applauded for trying to do better for her dogs rather than forcing her to use a food that you think is the best she can use. It's extremely expensive, maybe she simply cannot afford it, maybe she has her reasons for not using it, but I personally think she should be commended for upgrading from Iams and taking the first step in better nutrition for her dogs.

I totally agree with this statement.
