Question which one?!?

well i now kno to stay away from the major brands that dominate the dog food isle @ walmart --- rocky's been experiencing alot of shedding...to the point of concern.....so besides the bald spots, he had flies leaving him scabbed.......so the vet said it was allergies, so he got a shot and prescribed pills and medicated shampoo......

so before the vet, i have change his foods many times.....he's currently on nutro MAX large breed puppy food.....a regular customer @ my work has 2 full grown boxers that travel w/ him in his rig and he swears by Science Diet......the vet also recommended SD....then i dont know what to think about beed specific food.....

so we're now i nearing the bottom of the nutro bag and im thinking about trying SD or anything up there...something that'll minimize his shedding and he'll enjoy eating....

so why cant i figure it out?!!?

Science Diet make some of the worse food out there. Go here for reviews on dog food. Dog Food Analysis - Reviews of kibble You should try and feed at least a four star food.

Good luck!

I agree with Jan, Science Diet is terrible. Also, vets don't get taught a lot about nutrition and most of the time the stuff they do get taught is by the major food companies like Hills (science diet), Iams, Purina etc.

Please go to the website provided above (dogfoodanalysis.com) and read some reviews. If you really want to have a healthy dog, I don't recommend going with anything less than 4 stars. Not saying that the rest will kill your dog, it's just that most of the ones under that have a lot of terrible filers and bad grains.

Also, you mentioned you were getting low on your current food. Please remember that when switching a food, it is strongly recommened that you do it over a period of 1-4 weeks depending on how you dog reacts to the new food. You have to start with something around 75% current and 25% new. Monitor your dogs stool and progress/degress accordingly until you get to 100% new.

after checking the food analysis site, i seem to have just purchased an expensive bag of crap....but its open and he seemed to have enjoyed it....i understand the transition period...ive changed his food many times....i give it about a 4day transition, which doesnt seem to bother him at all......well this will defenitely be his 1st and only bag and give him a top rated brand......
